WE ARE THE YUGGERA UGARAPUL PEOPLE (YUP). THIS IS THE STORY OF OUR PEOPLE, OUR COMMITMENT TO CULTURE, AND OUR CARING FOR COUNTRY.

THE YUGGERA UGARAPUL PEOPLE

The Yuggera Ugarapul People (YUP) are the recognised Native Title Applicants of Ipswich, an area to the West of Meanjin (Brisbane) stretching to the Toowoomba Range, north to Gatton and nearly to Esk, south to the Logan River and east beyond Ipswich to the Oxley River catchment.

The YUP believes the emerging development of the Deebing Creek area is an opportunity to ensure our 10,000-year-old, deep connection with the land is appropriately recognised.
We are dedicated to protecting and sharing the cultural significance of YUP Country.

NEWS & EVENTS

It’s important we teach the little fellas about the old days of growing up on Country. The cultural precinct will help with that – it’ll be somewhere to keep our stories, our artefacts – and it’ll be for everyone.
