The YUP hosted their first NAIDOC event at the market green space along Harmony Crescent in South Ripley on 28 July 2023.

The event ran from 12 to 4pm and opened with a Welcome to Country from Aunties Sheryl and Roberta. Approximately 300 people attended including students from the local Ripley Valley State School and Ripley Valley State Secondary College.

Attendees enjoyed a dance and cultural performance by Nunukal Dancers and explored a range of stalls from community groups such as Mission Australia, Life without Barriers, We Care, Hymba Yumba and individual first nations artists such as KJH Artworks (Kylie Hill) and M&S Creations (Shaylene).

To keep the little ones busy there was face painting, badge making, hand printing onto canvases, and a jumping castle. Food vans provided savoury and sweet food options. The event was a success and we are looking forward to hosting our next one.
